They really should introduce colour coded lanes for navigating airport terminals. Red would be a ‘no stopping, continuous movement’ channel for people who actually want to go to their gate, know where they’re going and basically have their s*** together. Blue would be the ‘browser channel’ for people who want to shuffle along in a stop-start fashion and gaze on the panoramic wonders of Boots, Dixons, W.H. Smith and duty free shops selling all the same stuff that you can buy in Debenhams. And finally, the pink, fluffy lane would be for anyone who just wants to stand around, pick their nose or scratch their bottom for seconds, minutes, hours, with no sign that they actually want to travel anywhere. Forget the Third Runway: introduction of such a scheme would make Heathrow or Gatwick a world beater in passenger experience.
